Supporting our Veterans
The restaurants name, ‘Kingsmen’, derives from the rank/title given to soldiers of the Kings Regiment (now known as the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment). The restaurant is owned by and employs veterans of the 1st Battalion the Kings Regiment and their families i.e. former Kings Men.
The relevance to the restaurants location in Prescot Town Centre is that on the 29th August 1914 the 17th (1st City) Battalion, the Kings Regiment (Liverpool) was raised by Lord Derby at the old watch factory in Prescot. This Battalion had the distinction of being the first ever ‘Pals Battalion’. In addition, the new Shakespeare North Playhouse is located in Prescot and The ‘King’s Men’ was the name given to William Shakespeare’s acting troupe when it changed its name from the Chamberlain's Men in 1603.
Kingsmen Street Food are proud to support and host a Veterans Social Breakfast Club which is facilitated by Business and Community Solutions (BCS) Ltd. The club has veterans from the Army, Navy, Airforce and Royal Marines in attendance... so if you want to come along and join in the banter, as long as you have a uniform service history or an association with such and you can cope with the sense of humour, then you would be very welcome.
The Veterans Social Breakfast Club meet at Kingsmen Street Food on Saturdays at 12:00. There are no commitments or subs... just a great place to meet like minded people for support, chat and banter... not forgetting a tasty cookhouse scoff.
